Resetting our Spiritual Health
Pastor: Jeff Bedwell Series: Reset: A Journey Towards Wholeness Scripture: 2 Peter 3:18
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” (3 John 2, ESV)
What are some of the signs of “Spiritual Fatigue?”
Five Things God Uses To Build Our Faith:
- _________________________
- Personal spiritual growth _______________
- Impactful _______________
- Personal _______________ in ministry and mission
- Providential _______________
What Habits or Practices Help Me To Cooperate With God’s Purposes In Me?
1. _______________ my need
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10, ESV)
2. ______________ competitors for my heart’s affections
“Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.” (Isaiah 55:2, ESV)
Even a good thing becomes a bad thing when it becomes a _______________ thing in my life!
3. ______________ to spend quality time in God’s Word
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, ESV)
4. _______________ regularly with God in prayer
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, ESV)
5. _______________ with other obedient believers
“not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25, ESV)
6. _______________ the way you view problems
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2–4, ESV)
7. Discover, Develop, and ______________ your gifts in serving others
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10–11, ESV)
8. Take every day ___________ to tell people about Jesus
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:17– 20, ESV)
9. _______________ in joy-filled, gospel generosity
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” (Matthew 6:24, ESV)
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21, ESV)
Giving is not God’s way of raising money; it’s His way of raising people with surrendered, trusting hearts.
10. _______________ to pleasing God in all my actions
“So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.” (2 Corinthians 5:9, ESV)
11. _______________ through my quitting points
“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13–14, ESV)
12. _______________ on God’s faithfulness
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6, ESV)
