Message: Nothing But The Blood of Jesus 
Scripture: 1 Peter 1:18-20

“And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:20, ESV)

What Was So Special About The Blood Of Jesus?

1. It Was A Predestined Blood (20)

“this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.” (Acts 2:23, ESV)

2. It Was A Precious Blood (19)

• Precious In Value
• Precious In Rarity

3. It Was A Pure Blood (19)

“Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats,” (Exodus 12:5, ESV)

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15, ESV) 

Aspects of Christ’s Sinlessness:

• Negative: Completely free of any Transgression
• Positive: Eager to fulfill His Father’s Will

4. It Was A Powerful Blood (18-19)

Four Characteristics:

• Saving
• Secure
• Sufficient
• Sanctifying
• Cleanses

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, ESV)

• Replaces

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21, ESV)

• Become a Follower of Jesus Christ by trusting in the sufficiency of the shed blood of Jesus and surrendering my life to Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord
• Publicly identify with Christ as my Lord and Savior by being baptized
• Become a member of the First Baptist Family
• As a Christian, ask God to reveal to me any sin in my life, turn from that sin, trusting in Christ’s forgiving blood and renew my focus to live for Him by His power and grace
