The Resurrection and the Life
Pastor: Jeff Bedwell Series: Who is Jesus? Scripture: John 11
Series: Who Is Jesus?
Message: The Resurrection and The Life
Scripture: John 11
My perception of Jesus shapes the way that I understand and relate to Jesus.
I will obey Christ boldly when I believe Christ greatly!
Setting the stage (1-15):
- Bad news in the midst of a good life
- God’s purpose in the midst of it all to bring glory to Himself
- Jesus delays – They are freaking out; He is hanging out
- Jesus eventually returns to Judea under the threat of death
A Lesson in Bold Belief and Obedience
- When God wants to move in our lives and display His glory, He calls for a step of Obedience (38-40)
- Clear
- Personal
- Difficult
What is it that God is giving you a clear command about today? What is He asking you to do?
- Whether or not you obey God is dependent on what you Believe about Him
- Trust God’s Knowledge (4,11-15)
Just because I don’t know, doesn’t mean God doesn’t know!
- Trust God’s Love (3,5,36)
God’s love is a perfecting love, not a Pampering love
We must learn to interpret circumstances in light of God’s love; not interpreting God’s love in light of circumstances!
- Trust God’s Timing (6)
- Christ’s delays are delays of love
- The delayed help always comes at the right time
- The best help is not delayed
- Trust God’s Power (11,21-27, 32,37-44)
Sometimes we find it easier to trust God’s power for the distant future than for the present difficulty
- Trust God’s Purposes (4,40-42)
“In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,” (Ephesians 1:11)

- When we obey, God’s glory is displayed and lives are Blessed (41-45)
God moved into the realm of their problem and acted in such a way that brought glory to God and Good to those present
