He paid the highest price possible to offer to us the greatest gift possible!

In order to understand the death of Christ, I need to understand:

1. My Condition

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23)

“For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.” (Ephesians 2:1–3)

2. God’s Intervention (21)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God,” (1 Peter 3:18)

3. My Choice

The Benefits Purchased By the Death of Christ Belong To Those Who Repent and Trust Him

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,” (Acts 3:19)

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

The Three Crosses of Calvary:

  • The Cross of Redemption
  • The Cross of Rebellion/Rejection
  • The Cross of Repentance

4. My Responsibility (14-15; 18-20)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

“Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.'” (John 20:21)

Making It Personal:

  • Have you responded to Christ in repentance and trust?
  • Are you giving Him your soul, your life, your all?
